The 73rd Independence Day celebration was a different experience for the staff and students of Amrita Vidyalayam, Puthiyakavu. The occasion was graced by the presence of a worthy SPG Commando, Shri Manoj Kumar P.S. Humility defined Manoj Sir; in spite of his rank and achievements, he was humble to the core. Hailing from a humble fishing community, Manoj sir’s recounting of his life and experiences as a soldier for the last 18 years in a friendly and informal narration really stole everyone’s hearts.
The day was marked by flag hoisting, march past competitions, Manasapooja and Bharata Vandanam. The entire atmosphere resonated with the slogans, ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ by our spirited students. The tricolour of our proud nation seemed to be flying above the sky for all Amritians that day.
