From the lull of the two long months of summer vacation, Amrita Vidyalayam Puthiyakavu sprung to life with a new vitality and freshness on the morning of June 6th. The school was adorned with balloons and garlands, and the happy smiles of the school staff warmly welcomed the children into yet another academic year.
The morning function was graced by the presence of Bri. Soumyamrita Chaithanya, senior disciple of Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Her benedictory address exhorted the importance of a strong family foundation for the wholesome development of a child. Yet another guest added to the joy of the day. Our alumnus, S. Gautam Raj who secured the 353rd rank in the Civil Services Examination was honoured at the function. His words about his experiences at the school brought touching nostalgia to the children. Seeking blessings from their old class teachers, the children stepped into their new classrooms. Greeting their new class teachers and receiving their blessings, the new academic year commenced with guided meditation and chanting of Ashtotharam. The class teachers spent time with the children during the morning session, and regular classes were held in the afternoon.
