SHRADDHANJALI

The tremor of shock that left India paralysed by the death of more than 40 soldiers in Kashmir’s Pulwama district still grips the country. The students and staff of the school paid respects and tribute to the martyrdom of the brave soldiers today. The occasion was marked by chanting of Ashtotharam and Lalita Sahasranama stotram, followed by lighting of the lamp by our Physical Training teacher, Shri Manoj Sir, who is also an ex-defence personnel. Class representatives then placed the lamp in front of the image of Bharatamba. Teachers spoke about the depth and gravity of the incident. On behalf of the entire school, Akash Karta of Std. X gave a fitting salute in honour of the Bravehearts. The Indian pledge was repeated by the students with an unusual spirit and feeling, which was followed by the national anthem resonating in the atmosphere. A very special aspect of the Shraddhanjali was that a lighted lamp was placed before Amma’s image in every class room till the evening. It was kept burning to symbolize the undying spirit of nationalism that the brave soldiers have passed on to the whole nation. In the evening, the lamps were returned back to Bharatamba’s altar, thereby showing the purity and sincere prayer of the innocent hearts for the departed and their families.
